Dr. Christopher Abeare, Ph.D., C.Psych

Clinical Psychologist and Neuropsychologist

Adolescents, Adults, Seniors

Dr. Chris Abeare is a clinical neuropsychologist. He has spent his career studying how to improve neuropsychological assessment, how brain injury is assessed and what predicts recovery, and he brings that work directly into his practice.

Dr. Abeare's practice focuses on the assessment of adolescents, adults, and older adults following concussion, traumatic brain injury, and motor vehicle accidents. He also conducts evaluations addressing memory and thinking in later life, including dementia, and assessments of learning and attention where academic or occupational functioning is in question.

He completed his doctoral degree at Wayne State University, followed by his predoctoral internship at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI. His current research program focuses on improving the accuracy of neuropsychological
assessment, identifying risk factors for prolonged recovery, and understanding the
contributions of pain, sleep, mood, stress, and recovery expectations to outcome after
mild traumatic brain injury. He has published extensively in these areas, and his work on
assessment methods is used by clinicians internationally.
